Edited to Add: Ok I had to add (because I forgot to mention it during my show) that I’m a bit flustered with one of the guys from Plenty of Fish. I made the mistake of allowing him to add me to his Yahoo Messenger list and he WON’T leave me alone. I’ve deleted him from my list, I’ve ignored his instant messages and he still DOES NOT get the hint! I should of NEVER given him my messenger info because I had a ‘gut’ feeling about him from the get go. He was instant messaging me on the site before I even had my profile up and then within the first conversation he wanted to meet me that very weekend plus wanted my phone #. I got a creeped out feeling from the very get go but yet I still gave him my messenger info – how dumb was that???? And this isn’t just annoying anymore it’s creepy and I don’t like it! (sigh)

I know this might seem like a stupid question but did you tell him you’re not interested and to stop messaging you? Some people just don’t take hints. Also, you could just block him. I didn’t use Yahoo when I was dating (and I always used an email that I didn’t use for anything else except dating so I could just drop the email in case anyone got annoying) but there must be a way to block people.

Angela – it’s not a silly question at all! I have a silly answer though
In a round about way I have told him I’m not interested. Right at the very beginning – the very first time he contacted me I told him I was not interested in meeting him or talking, but was fine with chatting as a FRIEND. He has proceeded to be interested in more than the friendship thing.
I’ve deleted him from my messenger list but I don’t remember what his username was so I have to wait until he sends another message before I can block him.

I own an online dating service which I have run since 1998. I can tell you that it is one of the first things that I tell my customers and that is not to share your personal MSN email with anyone or give them your personal email address. It is free to set up hotmail or a yahoo email addy and you could have one separate one to use just for your online dating.
As for POF, I would be interested in your comments about this service. I have seen the forum and honestly I am shocked how people treat each other there. You have one poor soul who asks people to check out his profile and give him advice and he is cut to shreds…so much for your self confidence after that.
