Tishia was joined by LaTara Ham-Ying of Vegan Family Living this week. LaTara met her husband online, by accident, and they have built a successful relationship and are now in their 5th year of marriage. LaTara’s story just goes to show that an online relationships can be successful.

Edited to Add: Ok I had to add (because I forgot to mention it during my show) that I’m a bit flustered with one of the guys from Plenty of Fish. I made the mistake of allowing him to add me to his Yahoo Messenger list and he WON’T leave me alone. I’ve deleted him from my list, I’ve ignored his instant messages and he still DOES NOT get the hint! I should of NEVER given him my messenger info because I had a ‘gut’ feeling about him from the get go. He was instant messaging me on the site before I even had my profile up and then within the first conversation he wanted to meet me that very weekend plus wanted my phone #. I got a creeped out feeling from the very get go but yet I still gave him my messenger info – how dumb was that???? And this isn’t just annoying anymore it’s creepy and I don’t like it! (sigh)

The site that seems to be a huge hit right now is the goofy named one Angela mentioned last week, Plenty of Fish. Tishia said she is having fun with this site and Heather mentioned she had to check it out after listening to the show last week!

I had so much fun interviewing my guest for tomorrow’s show. We certainly did a lot of giggling After our interview today I headed over to the online dating site she mentioned, Plenty of Fish (www.plentyoffish.com) out of curiousity and because it’s a free site. Yes an online dating site that is completely 100% free!

Hmm talk about hitting a jackpot! There to my utter astonishment (and delight I must say…lol) was page after page of local men – like all within 75 miles from me And I wasn’t even finished setting up my profile before I was being instant messaged by someone.

Single Moms & Online Dating

I don’t know about you but I don’t have time to be going out to ‘meet’ men. Well I also live in a very small Northern Michigan town which doesn’t leave a lot of options to meeting men, unless you are into the bar thing and that’s just not my thing anymore.

I’ve tried my hand at the online dating thing a couple times in the past but have always given up after a month (hey it’s expensive!). I have one of two things happening on these dating sites:

1. There aren’t any ‘matches’ locally – on eHarmony I had the most problems with this and the closest match was about 2-3 hours from me.
2. I am being sent ‘matches’ that are men I know personally from my past (and well quite frankly my past & the men I know from my past aren’t exactly a great combination). This seems to be only an issue with Yahoo Personals.

For whatever reason I’ve been noticing a lot more lately how some of these pictures that men put up make them look like they are in a mug shot! Now come on guys – let’s get serious here. Do you think that if your picture creeps us out that we are going to contact you? Sure a ‘normal’ picture of a man doesn’t necessarily mean he is normal but I’m certainly not going to be contacting any men that I see a freaky picture of and for some reason I’m coming across a lot of them lately!
